Jake Shillingford and 90s legends My Life Story return to tour the UK
followed by a full My Life Story show with original 13 piece line up at O2Shepherds Bush Empire, London on Thursday 19th December 2013.
Jake Shillingford, MLS frontman will hit the UK for the first time in 14 years. The ‘My Life Short Story Tour’ will enable fans to hear MLS anthems like they’ve never heard them before.
Jake said, “For many years we have only been able to play a big London show due to the sheer size and scale of the band. Now I am able to take my songs out on the road with a stripped down tight rocking outfit”
Shillingford added: “I will be joined by various members of My Life Story along my journey around the UK, culminating in our traditional annual London concert with the original bunch, I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again, expect a big, bold and brash performance, all foxy horns and horny foxes”.

It has been 20 years since it all started for My Life Story, an oddball, overtly flamboyant, orchestral pop band, traversing the Grunge and Shoegaze movements, to chart recognition and a taste of mainstream success.
“ Back then we would regularly play the Marquee club where Giles Martin (Son of George) invited us to record our first single at his fathers studio, Air Lyndhurst. It was still being built at the time, we were the first band to record there.”
It was the bands debut single “Girl A, Girl B, Boy C that became a breath of fresh air in 1993, the era of American rock domination. With it’s Shirley Bassey swagger and a Tony Newley-esque vocal it was a forerunner to the Britpop movement, claiming single of the week in the NME and Melody Maker.
My Life Story were a huge favourite on the live circuit with their flamboyant shows and loyal following, whilst enjoying a string of chart hits throughout the 90s.
Their 3 albums produced 6 Top 40 hits, including '12 Reasons Why I Love Her', 'Strumpet' and 'Sparkle', described by Melody Maker at the time as …satisfying escapism. Taking life's mundanities and making them magical. While Smash Hits said: 12 Reasons Why is the best pop single of last year not to feature the Spice Girls.
My Life Story returned in 2006, after a six-year hiatus, with a ‘best of’ album entitled Sex & Violins. This was followed by Megaphone Theology (B-sides & Rarities). They have since performed packed-out shows at The Astoria, O2Shepherds Bush Empire and Koko.
